Where is blackrock depths located

The instance difficulty was set to Heroic but someway we entered, then MC didnt let us in cause it was set to Heroic and we had to Heartstone and go again. When you get in, there is the door that needs the key, and there is a hallway, where you can just go through From there, you can acess the rest of the instance, except for the last 6 bosses the total bosses are 22 which are from lvl If your tank is less than lvl 57, don't go to the last 6 bosses, because you simply won't make it Even with 1 lvl 60 healer, and 3 lvl 60 DPS, if the tank is less than 57, you will die, no matter what, especially in the room before Magmus, where you have to kill 2 mobs that drop some torches, while mobs are respawning 5 seconds after they die So, if you want to kill the last bosses too, you'd better get a good tank, with patience and understanding.

Last time I did it, tank was lvl 62, rest were , and I was 55 healer We did everything so easy, that I barely did 1 regrowth to the tank after each boss But before Magmus, where those little creepy things spawn So if you want to get the achievement, find a good tank and a good healer to do it, some CC would also be nice Comment by If you have any plans at all later.

Do not start this instance. I have personally not finished this instance with a full group after 3 hours. I recommend getting the key. Going theough the non-key areas. Then going back the next day for the key-only areas.

Comment by What level is required to enter this instance? Comment by A very well geared and skilled warlock looking for a challenge is able to solo most of the trash here. It's rough at points, but thoroughly enjoyable. I'm affliction, so I imagine Demonology would have an easier time keeping their Void alive.

I haven't tried any bosses though. It's also a nice opportunity to brush up on your threat management skills in high stress situations with more than one mob involved. No need to say it, but this is a fantastic way to grind experience if you're bored with quests. Being rested can get you experience on the elites. Comment by Gravelord This is a very long instance indeed, but a very fun one too. I ran this last night for 3 hours and another half with a very decent group. We only got 1 wipe at Emperor gauntlet event and that was all.

We downed every boss and it was a very fun experience. It was more of a raid dungeon. I wish it was a raid dungeon in old times maybe it was I can't remember I never did a full run of BRD in or Comment by For achi hunters, this can be done under one hour with l80, even without shadowforge key. Then jump down swim to the bridge, go up and you will be next to the Lyceum. If you have shadowforge key just go to the left to highway and directly to Lord Incendius. Comment by p51mustang24 "They don't make 'em like this anymore" On my lvl 53 pally I ran through this yesterday with a nice group.

We moved a good pace and downed 10 bosses. Today however, I was not so lucky. My group was This is the first instance where player skill begins to matter. One full clear with all some-odd bosses down will gain a full level, and likely much more. Comment by Excellent instance, this was really fun. Reading the posts above was very helpful, particular in finding the torches. Our group consisted of an 80 hunter BM specced, and a 80 mage arcane specced - wiped once, as we went straigth for Emperor Thaurissan, not noticing the plethora of mobs in the room, killed almost all of them before wiping so took the last ones when we got back.

Comment by Oasis Heh never noticed this before but on the wall on the right when you enter The Grim Guzzler is hiding a picture of Ragnaros, you have to be parallel looking towards the entrance on the wall so see it. Comment by I did this with a 70 feral drood pre WotLK lol. Full run, took maybe an hour and a half but he was full T6 at the time. It'd be so cool in this place if the mobs stayed dead and friendly npc's spawned :D new city loloololololol but seriously, when this place is cleared and in the later parts of the instance, it really seems if it was a city that a massive Ally raid took down.

Comment by If u are going to run here with a group at the instance lvl, be prepared to spend some time: This instance is massive! But it sure is a place for a nice, long and challanging adventure!

Loads of Bosses to take down, loads of areas to explore, and much more for the ones that wants to test their skills :.

Comment by I was pretty confused on how to get to the instance. Rez when have Pt. Head down that chain and go to the MC attunement giver. Go through that until you are able to turn right at the masonry, follow that tunnel to the instance portal. Comment by Lol. In the ring of justice, after killing Ok'Thor, 4 of our group members including me got trapped in his cage because he killed him inside it.

The one outside brought us some enemies so we could die or have the two warriors use charge to get out, but sadly we engaged in combat so quickly we could not use charge, and we easily killed them. Oh and the person locked outside died Comment by Currently still the largest instance in the game, if I am not mistaken at least, 5-man.

This quest was one of the endgame 5-mans for Vanilla WoW. It's one of my favorite instances - it has everything from rooms full of hostile dwarves to labyrinths of hallways to a bar where, get this, the enemies aren't hostile initially. The downside is it takes a very long time to fully clear, but it's worth every last second you spend. You do not need the Shadowforge Key to enter, but to get to the last few rooms it's a requirement. Comment by Thottbot A rogue with sufficient Lockpicking skill can get through most if not all the doors.

I'm skill and haven't found a door yet that I can't pick in BRD :. It makes a run go so much smoother with one. They can banish the elementals, making it so much easier on groups, and they can enslave the demon dog near the vault, making that fight, and the one right after with all the golems a piece o cake. Then all the obvious benefits you get from a warlock - SS, Healthstones, Summons, all that. Comment by Thottbot I have been looking for a guide, that explains how to deal with the events before Thaurissan, and Thaurissan himself.

Though i found lots of tips for Thaurissan i didnt get to see him still. Problems were the huge room with fast respawns, and then thereafter the lesser problem Magmus.

During he is engaged with the flame keepers, the 4 other go for the groups. This will only work with decent AoE, like a mage with iAE or a lock with imp. A priest wont do the job good, his AE isn't cheap enough.

Everyone should have bread, water lv55 and potions ready. Kill the elementals the Fireplaces in the eastern half of the room.

You'd best go for the one in the soth first. This has to be done within 3 minutes after the first torch was placed or you will wipe.

When the 2nd torch was placed, you have done the hard part. Go into the hall east to you. Magmus: There is no difficulty in the boss hisself, but in the Environment.

There are statues, that will breathe fire dealing DoT of about fire damage per 2 seconds. The wall is separated into black sections by white pillars, and the statues only will appear only every 2nd section. Also, in each section there are either no statues, or statues on both sides. In either of the situations, everyone is supposed to check, if the fire cone reaches him, and if so, step aside. Then its an easy kill. Thaurissan: The mobs in front of him are to be killed. They are eays trash-mobs most of which arent even elite.

Now ask if anyone has the Thaurissan quest. Dont touch the princess or the quest will fail. After quite a short time, the princess will turn against the priest. He now only has to heal hisself, sometimes shielding the others. If he does, he also grows in size. If noone has the quest, first kill the princess, then kill thaurissan. I will be updating the guide with images when i next kill him.

Comment by Thottbot To enter the instance at all, you must be level 40, otherwise it won't let you in. Going in at level 40 is useless, as finding a group is beyond unlikely, and doing anything basically impossible. Comment by Thottbot This is probably the last dungeon you should be running pre-Outland. After this point, the gear isn't worth the time for instancing, at it's only a matter of levels until your gear gets replaced. I know that there are special cases i.

I have been ther 26 times in the last 5 days. I have dinged from Level 53 thru 58 inside there. Just today i went there 7 times in a row then did stratholme and finally 4 of us just went to blackrock Spire for kicks n did pretty good for a 4 man group i must say.

Myself Lvl 58 warriors, lvl 55 warrior, lvl 54 pally n lvl 51 priest. In those 26 trips of mine, I was grouped with various combinations. The Best combination I found to be 3 warriors 1 paly and 1 priest - man trust me.. Our favourite priest happens to be lvl 51, we tried a few others lvl 56 and lvl 62 but they sucked.

This guy was like an angel from heaven - there is never a moment I have even looked at my health bar when he's around. If my health went below half, that would mean he was dead. I know the place like the palm of my hand now : I stopped questing at level 56 i think - theyre too complicated and being a working man - I cant possibly take time out to go thru the headache of figuring out things instead of leveling - so I generally only do quests people share inside the instance.

Also, the reason I liked BRD is it doesnt feel like a grind - its like a survivor episode in there. I have been lucky to get angerforges axe and the fiery wrath polearm. There is no key, or process for it.

To get to it, enter Blackrock Mountain, and go to the top of the circle. You'll see some chains that lead down to an area in the center of the mountain. There's a small ramp up to one of the chains, so go up that, and run down the chain.

Then follow the doors and paths down around to the bottom. There is a second chain, and be careful not to fall off the ledges. When you get to the bottom, you'll see a guy in a little cutout. He's the guy for MC, so turn around, take a few steps back, and there's a door that goes inside. Pretty much head straight after you get in there, and after a few mobs, you'll see a pathway, like a bridge almost.

There's a patroling fire elemental who is the objecet of a quest, if you have it , but the instance entrance is at the end of that lane, on your right.

People HATED running it, because it took five or six hours to do, and people would leave, and new people would arrive, and items were easy to ninja.

Now, in the year , three or four Lv. The drops are very good, and if you know where you're going and the quickest routes to each boss, you can clear them all in under an hour. Other major instances for some nice gear for your Lv.

In any case, all the people who said they hate this instance and want it to burn in hell, now have the chance at Lv. It's fun :D. Comment by Thottbot i ran BRD with a good group 56 loc 57 warrior 53 hunter i believe 52 mage me 62 druid balence spec, but healer we made it to the bar, smashed the kegs and beat the boss that comes in, and then went up stairs.

Comment by Thottbot BRD is without question my favorite instance of all time. There are many quest chains that feed into BRD. You can have like 9 quests in your log going in.

If you are in a PUG that is doubly so. Pick 2 or 3 quests that are near each other and do them. The quest is picked up from a ghost in the center section outside the instance when you are dead. Make sure everybody picks it up on the first wipe. If your group is around the intended level about 55 you will get creamed if you don't use crowd control, keep aggro off the healer, and prevent runners.

Banish or kill them first every time they are in a pull. Save the princess. You must get through the the Lyceum, which is amazingly hard compared to all dungeon content in the game up to this point, IMO.

Unless you have some high levels or veterans in your group you are going to wipe many times. Google it. As mentioned in other posts above, this instance is solo-able and quite fun at Comment by Thottbot If you have a lock in your group remind him to cast level one curse of recklessness on any and all humanoid enemies as they get low on health.

For 35 mana you will prevent pulling another mob and save yourself many wipes. Comment by Thottbot Alright, I've spent WAY to much time trying to find the dmn bar and get to the other half of the instance. Read below for help: You will need to have the Shadowforge Key to get to the bar. Once you enter the instance, go left through the Gate and right again through the second gate.

You'll see the Garrison door on your left along the wall. Enter there. Staying on the lower level, you'll have to get to the big gear lock on the far side of the room. Head upstairs and go to the left. You'll head down a passageway that will become very narrow and you'll cross over the gate through the door you just opened with the big gear. Once you come to a bigger room, you'll want to turn right and head north into the Manufactory. He'll go mess with the kegs and accidentally break down the exit door.

If you plan on coming through a lot, you can do the Love Potion quest for the succubus waitress and, next time you come back and every time thereafter, you can just talk to her and get her to open the door.

Alternately, a rogue can pick the barkeeps pocket to get the door key. Once you get through the door, it's on to Keep the little fire elementals away from him and he's a fairly easy boss. Hang a left turn to Clear the golems and Casters Head on through the next doorway to: 10 The Seven Dwarves. Then, go to the far end and talk to the dwarf there to challenge the seven dwarves to battle.

They agro on you at about one minute intervals, and they're fairly tough. There won't be much time to rest between them either, so be ready with some mana potions and healing potions. After beating them down, the next door unlocks to The molten core entrance and the core fragement you need for Attunement to the Core are across the large one.

Once you finish your business here, unlock the next door to get to The dwarves respawn very quickly. Best bet is to work your way around the edges of the room, keeping in a very tight group. Have good agro-grabbers to keep the dwarves off the casters. Light the two big braizer-torches after killing their guardians to unlock the door to You have successfully navigated Blackrock Depths. For example: You can jump through a window in the East garrison onto a ledge and then down onto the pathway between Bael'Gar and the black anvil.

You can jump into the lava at the black anvil or at Ambasador Flamelash and hop-skip-jump north to the islands in the lava better have an agro-dump ability This gets you past without having to fight the seven dwarves to smelt dark iron. The Shadowforge key can bypass a lot. Edit: Got Flamelash and Foundry backwards. The instance difficulty was set to Heroic but someway we entered, then MC didnt let us in cause it was set to Heroic and we had to Heartstone and go again.

Comment by This is by far the most confusing place in the entire game. While I was fighting some of the snakes that came out, I went into the cell because they weren't coming out. After killing the mobs in there the jail door shut on me and I was stuck.

I contacted a GM, but after 1 hour of waiting for the response I just hearthstoned. Make sure you do not walk into the Cells where the enemies spawn, you could be stuck.

Just a heads-up, good luck. Comment by Tbh, i can't stand this place. If you're playing loremaster u need to go there over and over again. I wasted 18 hours already on about 12 quests and im not even done yet.. So think about it before u start grinding here. Comment by Cheesier Just spend four hours in this dungeon killing every boss that I'm familiar with. All the bosses on this page were dead and we still didn't complete our daily dungeon quest.

Anyone else have this experience? Are the daily dungeon bosses random for which one you need to kill? Comment by harriaal Just did the random. The boss is High Interrogator Gerstahn, in the Prison area. Which is a pain in the ass. Not because the boss is hard to reach or a tough fight. On the contrary, it is way, way, way too easy. I'd really like to run more than just far enough to get my prize satchel.

I mean, really, once you've reached BRD level, what's the chance you're going to get a significant upgrade for your boots or bracers in that satchel, right? As a resto druid and enchanter, I'd love to hit Pyro mancer Loregrain. But that could be about 20 minutes past getting the satchel, which is about 5 minutes longer than it took to get the satchel in the first place. Which means, almost inevitably, at least one person in the group unwilling to keep going.

If you're lucky, it's only one dps. If it's the tank, healer or if you drop to a 3-man group, your chance of continuing just reached virtually nil. If you've got an enchanter in your group, if you appreciate free use of his or her profession to turn useful crap into marketable enchanting mats, do him or her a favor and go at least as far as the Pyromancer Loregrain. Seriously, please? If common decency doesn't motivate you, check out just a sampling of the ring of law loot.

Maybe , just maybe , greed will work. Comment by Just killed everything in that joint but Bael'Gar and no goodie bag or rewards from the random lfg use. Well we just killed every single boss in the instance and still didn't get it.

Apparently Upper City is glitched and you can't get your Sachel. Comment by Yes, you are so right. Everytime when i tried to do them, i try 4 times, even 6 because everyone is on it for the random dungeon, but at least I can level. Comment by rammsteintor this is a long instance. Comment by iMogwai Still a bit confused about this. Also if you want the loot bag for the random group, in Upper City, you must leave the princess alive when you kill the emperor.

Comment by Gyaris As of 3. However, there are not two different portals, so when you are queued up for either, you will start out in the main entrance. The Prison section can be done quickly, however, the Upper section requires the Key to go forward.

IMO it's by far the best 5 man dungeon ever created. So many quests, over 20 bosses and some really challenging encounters that wipe your average pug even full heirloom geared ones. There are epics that drop from the arena boss and then ofc the cool items like Ironfoe, that are fun to use even lv The thing I don't understand is why people are crazy about the satchel. Then the same 5 ppl want to do it again and again for the satchel What the hell is so appealing about it?

I know it can't be the measly xp you get for completing the quest. At this level you get either boots or bracers. If you care so much about bracers, you could easily get the epic WSG bracers which are better then the satchel ones.

Sure the boots are great, but after runs you would think everyone would have the "of the Plus there are boots and bracers for every class that drop in BRD that are just as good and in some cases better. It's been about 35 runs. So far I haven't done one full clear, and unless they are just shy or mute, ive been the only person who knows anything about the instance.

I tell them we need to kill the emperor and they just leave. Anyone have an idea why the satchel is so appealing? And why kids these days hate a challenge? Comment by Sad to say, I went into this instance for the first time the other day. I started playing during the Burning Crusade, and the first time I was in any raids, I wasn't really wowed by the architecture in-game.

In my opinion it's a shame that I missed out on all this classic content. There's something about it that doesn't get old. Comment by If you are in the mid's level range, it is likely that your random dungeon will be the Upper City section of BRD. If this is the case, and you go ahead and clear the prison block killing High Interrogator Gerstahn first, you will not get your sack of spoils for completing the dungeon, no matter if you kill all the bosses of the entire BRD instance.

I am to understand this is a bug in-and-of itself, but I found this post that was helpful. Mid's players qued for Upper City need to kill Emperor Thaurissan. High Interrogator Gerstahn 2. Lord Roccor 3. Houndmaster Grebmar 4. Ring of Law 5. Pyromancer Loregrain 6. Lord Incendius 7. Warder Stilgiss 8. Fineous Darkvire 9. Bael'Gar General Angerforge Golem Lord Argelmach Hurley Blackbreath Phalanx Ribbly Screwspigot Plugger Spazzring Ambassador Flamelash The Seven Magmus Emperor Dagran Thaurissan.

Comment by For rogue lockpickers - if you enter the dungeon then lockpick the first gate to the left, then go forwards until you see another gate to the right, lock pick that.. EDIT: while messing around on my rogue i found something interesting, if you keep on going after the second gate that was described, around the detention block there are cells which can be lock-picked, mobs infront of them but nothin says easy like a 80 rogue on level mobs :.

Comment by saruu In the fires of mt doom Using Direbrew's Remote or otherwise getting to the Grim Guzzler Bar with out boss action is possible however from these it is mandatory to encounter: Ambassador Flamelash The Seven Magmus Princess Moira Bronzebeard Emperor Thaurissan NB: If you can get around Ambassador Flamelash and jump into the lava and swim several hundred meters without being killed by the fire or any of the many, many Fireguard Destroyer's.

I is possible to avoid the "The Seven-ghosts room". You must then only kill Magmus and Emperor Thaurissan as Princess Moira Bronzebeard can under certain circumstances see chain quest starting with; Kharan Mighthammer for Alliance or Commander Gor'shak for Horde can be left alive. When I was first leveling up back in , to kill everything and get to the end of the instance took a good few hours when done at the "appropriate" level.

It wont take quite that long now as it has been nerfed to heck, but don't be expecting a quick 20minute run. If this is your first character, you can also expect this to be one of the hardest you have done so far as it is not a case of steaming through, AoE'ing everything in your path. Its a fantastic instance imo though and well worth the effort of sticking to it.

Good luck, and enjoy it while it's still there :. Cannot kill Princess Moira Bronzebeard. She can be killed. Kill Emperor Dagran Thaurissan. Killing the Interrogator makes the game think you took your group to do another instance Blackrock Prisons , so it won't consider you to be doing Upper City anymore; The same thing should happen if you did Scarlet Monastery Library instead of Cathedral or Maraudon Purple Crystals instead of Orange Crystals.

Edit: After two random Upper City runs, it would appear that you can kill the Princess if you'd like. It doesn't matter if she lives or dies kill her for the loot! Comment by themguyman this instance was notorious for angering any one who enters it it is so confusing and hard to navigate unless you've been through the whole thing as most parties pre WOLK would just break up and it would be hard to find a new member if it was a tank or healer killing the entire run.

Comment by SweetNiffer Me and a friend tried to get in, said I didn't meet the requirements. I figured since I was 70 it wouldn't be a problem. Does this mean we HAVE to be in a 5man group? Comment by Had a fantastic run in there yesterday with a random dungeon group. Comment by KaAttaKilla Just solo'd a full clear of this place as a prot pally. Comment by Strein This has to be the best instance in the game. Not because of its great loot and lore, but the aspect that makes it what it is.

Kudos Blizzard, kudos. Comment by steveostheone It appears that with this last patch the dungeon has been reconfigured. I was trying to get to the Black Anvil and I cannot seem to find a way to get there. Does anyone happen to know anything about this? Another note, if your running low lvl's through they must be lvl 42 to enter. Comment by mecheye There seems to be a few other decorations floating around like obelisks and elemental portals.

I couldn't find a use for them yet Dec 1st, but they might be used later. Comment by palmer can anyone tell me if its soloable as an 80 sham? Comment by Badaccus Should be soloable by any lvl 80, to my knowledge there is no mechanic requiring more than 1 character, if there has ever been, and i dont think they have changed any mechanic of any boss in this dungeon.

Comment by Really fun instance if you got a good group that is willing to go all through. Hard, challenging good drop and exp and fun as hell! Comment by Zlox You don't need key for upper anymore.

Comment by There have been some changes made in 4. When you enter the East Garrison, do not go up the stairs to the right. Go around the stairs and enter the large open area, and in this room will be a very large U-shaped object called I think "The Shadowforge Lock". When you mouseover it, a cog will appear. Click on it, and the door between the East and West Garrisons will open.

Comment by chaoscurtis This is by far my single favorite dungeon in the game, and in my opinion it should be granted a 85 heroic mode similar to those of Shadowfang Keep and Deadmines Comment by Derren What piss me off with upper city is almost every damn groups people are slackers: Meaning almost every group your gonna get you will be asked to use the mole machine "past the grim guzzler" and if some party members or even the whole group you wont do em because they are too lazy to kill the whole upper city bosses.

Way to go! Go through the tomb, exit at the other end, and follow the path down to another chain bridge leading down into the depths. At the platform, go through the doorway on your right and step out into a huge cavern filled with dark iron dwarves mining ore. The entrance to the BRD instance is at the end of a hallway in the northwestern portion of this cavern. There are several quests that require a journey into BRD, the most prominent of which are the series of quests needed to obtain a key to Onyxia's lair for Alliance players.

Because of the difficulty variation and the sheer size of the dungeon, the best way to tackle quests is to group them by area of difficulty and make multiple trips into BRD, concentrating on a few quests at a time.

This approach will allow you to get considerable experience points xp's for killing and completing the easier quests early, rather than waiting until you are old enough to get to the Emperor's throne room.

This guide spreads the quests out over three trips but it all depends on how much time you can spend on any given trip. If you are prepared to spend around hours in BRD, depending on your party's overall level, you could combine trips 2 and 3 into one. In addition to quests, there are a few other reasons for making a trip to BRD, particularly if you are a crafter of any kind. If you are a miner, the ghost of Gloom'Rel in the Chamber of Seven can teach you how to smelt dark iron ore. Subsequently, you will need to make a trip to the forge past the chamber whenever you have dark iron to smelt. Engineers can also pick up the repair bot schematic near Golem Lord Argelmach, something you would definitely want to have once you start making regular trips into Molten Core and the other high-level instances. The maximum number of people on a raid team that can go into the instance is A mage is very important in BRD if you need to go into the Emperor's throne room.

Instant arcane explosion knocks whole mobs down in the Lyceum in seconds. Warlocks are useful for banishing fire elementals, if you need to go past the Manufactory into the bar or if you are going for Attunement to the Core.

Other than that, it's the same as all other dungeons, ie. As a rule, you will need a tank someone who can take lots of damage , a healer, and damage dealers. This may sound too simple to mention but you'll be surprised how many people still attempt to go into dungeons without a healer or a tank. This walkthrough is organized into three parts, keeping in mind the level of quests and the area you need to cover and have access to during each trip.

Maps of the instance can be rather confusing because areas overlap each other so rather than present you with a confusing map, I will just describe how to get around and supplement the description with minimaps and pictures where applicable. From the instance entrance, you will see an archway leading into a large circular area patrolled by Dark Iron dwarves and their hounds.

There are three sets of hallways out of this foyer. The rightmost hallway curves and connects up to the second one in a semi-circle. The third and fourth hallways also curve into each other and lead to the Ring of Law and several other jail cells which you don't have to worry about unless you are doing Jailbreak!.

The fifth hallway leads to the Shadowforge Lock, which we can forget for now, since we don't have the Shadowforge Key yet. Proceed to the second hallway from the right and start clearing the pockets of mobs standing around outside the cells. If you have a rogue in the party, you can make your way to the cells you want immediately and have the rogue pick the lock on the doors. Otherwise, you will have to kill High Interrogator Gerstahn to get the key.

Gerstahn is in a room further down the hall, at the point where it connects up to the first hallway. I would suggest killing Gerstahn while you're in the area anyway, because you will need to make a couple more visits to Windsor in the future and the key will certainly come in handy then.

Windsor will give you the follow-up quest Abandoned Hope, which requires you to take a message back to Marshal Maxwell in Burning Steppes. Make sure you complete this quest before coming back to BRD because it triggers a note drop from a random BRD mob that starts the quest A Crumpled Note, still part of the Onyxia key quest chain.

If you have a rogue in the party, you can make your way to his cell immediately and have the rogue pick the lock on the cell door. Before talking to Commander Gor'Shak, clear the mobs around his cell. Talking to him activates a rescue quest, and a huge mob will all swarm into his cell, trying to kill him. You MUST keep him alive to complete the quest so watch his health and draw aggro from any mob attacking him, whether or not you are a tank.
